Robust Construction
The Sedgwick MB308 Planer Thicknesser is engineered for precision, durability, and minimal maintenance. Its rigid mainframe assembly provides exceptional stability and precisely houses the feed system, cutterblock bearings, and infeed and thicknessing tables.
Enhanced Cutterblock
The large diameter four-knife TERSA cutterblock ensures a superior finish and requires minimal upkeep thanks to its sealed-for-life bearings. It is powered by an industrial motor via two heavy-duty vee belts, delivering ample force for demanding applications.
Surface Planing
The extended cast iron infeed table rises and falls in square gibs for long-term accuracy and includes a depth-of-cut rule. A robust cast iron fence mounted on a sturdy bracket adjusts from 90° to 45° for beveling and chamfering, with a positive stop for quick realignment to 90°. Adjustable shaw guards add extra safety.
Thicknessing
For efficiency and long-term accuracy, the surfacing tables stay in place during thicknessing, supported by a dual-function chip collection hood.
- Table: Cast iron with extension rollers mounted on precision-ground pillars for parallel alignment and stability.
- Feed Rollers: One spiral-fluted and one rubber-coated roller, driven by a heavy-duty chain and industrial geared unit. On three-phase machines, the geared unit offers two feed speeds for versatility.
Safety Features
- Fully enclosed drive assembly for safe operation and easy maintenance access.
- Rear cutterblock guard fixed to the fence and a bridge-type guard at the front.
